The itinerary consists of a visit to the old town centre of Montelupo in the course of which it will be possible to visit the ancient Priory of San Lorenzo, built over the pre-existing structures of a fortified keep, and ending up with a visit to the new Ceramics Museum, where visitors can admire the majolica production of Montelupo from the mid-thirteenth century up to the eighteenth, with a special emphasis on the Renaissance period when Montelupo became the "manufactory" of Florence. - BOOK
MASTER POTTERS

The secrets of the master throwers, an ancient art handed down through the centuries. The itinerary schedules the visit to the new Ceramics Museum and to an ancient kiln. In the course of the visit, the various phases in the history of the majolica production of Montelupo will be illustrated, in particular that of the Renaissance epoch, when this little hamlet became the "manufactory" of Florence. Inside the kiln, not only will visitors be able to watch the clay being worked by a master potter, using an ancient pedal wheel, but they will also be able to try their hand at manipulating the material themselves. - BOOK
