THE SECRETS OF A MEDIAEVAL VILLAGE
The itinerary consists of a visit to the old town centre of Montelupo in the course of which it will be possible to visit the ancient Priory of San Lorenzo, built over the pre-existing structures of a fortified keep, and ending up with a visit to the new Ceramics Museum, where visitors can admire the majolica production of Montelupo from the mid-thirteenth century up to the eighteenth, with a special emphasis on the Renaissance period when Montelupo became the “manufactory” of Florence.

MASTER POTTERS
The secrets of the master throwers, an ancient art handed down through the centuries. The itinerary schedules the visit to the new Ceramics Museum and to an ancient kiln. In the course of the visit, the various phases in the history of the majolica production of Montelupo will be illustrated, in particular that of the Renaissance epoch, when this little hamlet became the “manufactory” of Florence. Inside the kiln, not only will visitors be able to watch the clay being worked by a master potter, using an ancient pedal wheel, but they will also be able to try their hand at manipulating the material themselves.

FROM THE ARCHAELOGICAL MUSEUM TO THE ROMAN VILLA
A guided visit of the Archaeological Museum housed within the formerly religious complex of San Quirico and Santa Lucia all’Ambrogiana where you can admire the findings from excavations in the area dating back to a period from Prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. The visit to the Museum will be followed by a guided visit to the Roman Villa of Vergigno at the end of which a “Roman style” aperitif will be served.

SHOPPING ITINERARIES and WINE TOUR
The itinerary includes shops and outlets selling the typical local products (men’s and women’s fashion, footwear, ceramics, glass and articles for the home). Then, guests will be welcomed in an ancient Tuscan farmhouse to taste the wines of the estate, accompanied by the local gastronomic specialities.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL TREKKING
A walking tour to explore the excavation sites of the territory of Montelupo Fiorentino, accompanied by expert archaeologist guides. A stop for a gastronomic refreshment break is scheduled along the route, and the tour ends with a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Montelupo.
