The historical centre of Londa preserves the typical look of mountain villages,
with houses standing one next to the other all around the main square. The
nearby lake is well attended in the summer by tourists from Florence and is the
natural backdrop for all the feasts and fairs that take place here.
On its shores, stands the Visitor
Centre of the Parco Nazionale delle
Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna, that sees Londa as one of
the two accesses from the Florentine side.
On a hill overlooking the village, lie the ruins of the castle of Vicorati,
formally belonging to the municipality of Dicomano, but at a short walking
distance from Londa.
North of the village, the territory splits into four valleys, among which it is
worth mentioning:
-
the Valley of Vierle, cut by the
stream Moscia, where stand the Rocca di San Lorino and the Pieve di San
Leolino;
-
the Valley of Rincine, with the Pieve
di S. Maria and the
Regional demesne of Rincine, a popular tourist attraction.
