The
Pieve of S. Pietro and Paolo at Cascia, near
Reggello, is one of the most important churches in our
territory, for both the beauty of its sculptures and its
Romanic architecture (late 12th century).
To the right rises the solid square-based bell tower. |
 |
The façade is decorated with small
arches and preceded
by a four vaulted porch, with columns and capitals of a
classical style. |
 |
The capitals of
the first, third and fifth column, are carved
with human and animal heads, figures having an allegoric
meaning, typical decorating elements of the Romanic art. |

The three naves are divided
by monolithic columns ending
in a semicircular apse. |

In the church, mounted behind a pane of
glass, is the Triptych of
San Giovenale, important juvenile work of Masaccio (1422).
