Chianti Rufina and Pomino Wine Route

The Sieve Valley
Rufina is
rightly considered as the barycentre of this
Wine Road. Before starting the trip, do pay
a visit to the “Museum of Vine and Wine” and
exploit the information centre set up by the
“Consorzio del Chianti Rufina”. The visit to
the winery must be postponed to the end of
the trip, after parking the car.
The itinerary begins heading north,
following the river Sieve upstream till
Scopeti, where is Villa di Colognole, a
scenic terrace on the valley. Back on the
valley floor, head towards Dicomano, with
its historical centre, its porticoed streets
and, just above it, the Romanesque church.
Retrace Southwards and just outside Dicomano,
take left driving up towards Frascole, where
are the remains of an Etruscan settlement.
At Contea, a quick visit to the convent of
Sandetole to finally reach Londa with its
historical centre around the old main
square.
